Intern at Mexico Caravan Ministries!

MCM offers 3, 6, and 12 month internships for young adults who have graduated high school. While our ministry does focus on missions education, our main desire for our internship is investing in the next generations of leaders. We believe creating a foundation for spiritual maturity starts by knowing and loving God.

Our internship is broken into three seasons. Here’s what you can expect:

Summer

The summer season starts the first week of June. The first week interns arrive is orientation. During this time interns shared their life stories, get to know each other and the ministry, and start adjusting to life in Mexico. The summer at Caravan is very fast paced. Every week we host multiple church groups, interns have the responsibility of hosting the groups at the dorms, leading builds, and making sure the week runs smoothly. It’s a team effort!

Fall/Spring

Our fall and spring seasons are considered “off seasons’. We host fewer groups meaning our focus is on intentional discipleship. During these seasons interns have more time to dive into our book studies and Mexican culture. They visit Mexican churches and have the opportunity to live with a Mexican family. We also partner with other ministries in the Tijuana area. This is a great time to grow in your understanding of the Bible and practice spiritual disciplines.

No mater what season you are at Caravan you can expect to:

  • Grow in your understanding of the Bible and theology

  • Read missionary biographies and learn more about missions

  • Develop leadership skills

  • Serve the Tijuana community, the church groups that visit, and your fellow intern

  • MCM builds simple structures for families in need. You will learn how to lead a build with the groups that come to serve.

  • Spend time in the community with the intention to learn more about how other people in the world live.

Fundraising

Caravan operates as a small ministry, where both our full-time staff and interns rely on raising support. This financial support covers daily expenses, group activities, and contributes to our broader mission at MCM. Each intern is required to raise $800 per month, which might initially seem daunting. However, we encourage support raising as it not only provides the necessary funds but also fosters a sense of community and involvement with your church, family, and friends back home. Building this support network is crucial for your time here, and it ensures that when you leave Caravan, you have a community waiting for you at home.

“To anyone considering being an intern, without even a second thought, I would absolutely recommend it! Interning for a whole year wasn’t my original plan, I was only going to intern for 6 months, but I am so grateful to have been at MCM for an entire year. Being at Caravan a full year will give you the full experience of both the busy season (summer) and the off seasons (spring and fall), where the focus on discipleship is amplified, allowing time to learn the ropes, put it into practice, and become more of a Christ-like leader. Serving at Caravan enables you to deepen your friendships with people in the local church and ministries. There is also time to settle in and be fully present, focused on what God has for you to learn and do before changing gears again to prepare to go home. And as you grow in the seasons, you’ll continue to be under amazing, solid teaching. The truth from God’s Word you hear every week will transform you all the more! The same will be the case with the intern discipleship resources. Staying for a year will allow your relationships at Caravan to deepen. The foundation was laid in my first season and was built upon more and more with each season. Picture it like a casita of discipleship: each season is like one more nail, one more 2x4, one more wall that God uses to grow you. Though there will be challenges, staying a full year is completely worth it; for God’s glory, it’ll be filled with many memories, much joy, and much growth.”
