Our Ministry
Statement Of Faith
We believe...
The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God for the Christian faith and living. (The Bible)
That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (God the Father)
In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. (God the Son)
In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling every Christian is able to live a godly life. (God the Holy Spirit)
That all people are lost sinners and must turn to Christ in saving faith and repentance, through regeneration by the Holy Spirit. (Salvation)
In the resurrection of both those who believe in Jesus and those who do not believe: those believing are promised eternal life in Heaven and those unbelieving are promised eternal separation from God. (Last Things)
Service Projects
Meeting the need
Most of what we do involves construction. Jobs may include building 12´x12´ shelters for those who don’t have adequate housing, putting on roofs, building outhouses, digging outhouse holes, etc.
We reserve the right to decide where the greatest needs are. The materials will be purchased in Mexico and ready for delivery to the work sites. We will provide tools as well as the expertise to get the job done. Some groups also choose to prepare activities for the children that gather around the work site, such as informal games and crafts. Regardless of what is planned there will usually be plenty of children with whom to play and people with whom to interact at the job site.
Mobilization
Our purpose
Though needs are met among the poor through the housebuilding ministry, the real purpose of this ministry is to make disciples. We strive to create world Christians and to mobilize the next generation of missionaries. We are blessed to have the opportunity to expose participants to cross-cultural ministry and third-world poverty, but our main focus is to present God’s plan for worldwide disciple-making and the truth about how He wants us to participate in that plan. The challenges are pointed and the teaching is for the mature. It is not meant to be an adventurous vacation or a means for justifying a trip to Disneyland.
Staying Safe
At Caravan Ministries, we care deeply about safety. Here's a letter from the Executive Director, Eddie, addressing the issue of safety in Tijuana, Mexico...
As the Director of this ministry since 2003 and living in Tijuana since 2008, I have addressed this question more times than I can count. “Is it safe to serve in Tijuana?” “Is it safe to bring a group of high school students into this ‘foreign land’ south of the border?”
I have answered this question in many ways over the years, but the best way is to highlight our record. We have hosted over 13,000 participants since 2011 & we have been growing consistently since 2013. This growth is due in part to a clear reduction of the negative perception that Tijuana is dangerous. Please understand…I have always been at peace both living here & allowing groups to come & serve. As a ministry, we have instituted policies & practices to ensure the safety of both our staff & our participants. We strive to be wise, purposeful & methodical in all we do, where we go & how we approach the nationals & the culture. I believe people can come without major safety concerns. With good attitudes, respect for the culture, and our guidelines, people can have a positive experience with us in Tijuana!
I also know that sometimes things happen even if we do everything right. We have a sovereign God & we must trust Him with our lives at home & wherever He leads us. That said, I cannot promise Tijuana is safe & that nothing bad will happen any more than I can promise that you will be safe backing out of your own driveway. I can say that after thirteen years of doing full-time ministry in Mexico, I feel totally confident in inviting & allowing anyone to come serve with us! I go back to our record: in the past twenty-three years, none of our participants has experienced any harm!
Feel free to email admin@sendmcm.org if you have any questions or concerns, I look forward to the conversation.
In His Love,
Eddie Passmore
